This is a small blog created when I helped rescue a young, injured, and most likely abused chicken in September 2016. I have loved animals all my life, and have rarely rejected an opportunity to help or heal them, so for me it was just part of what I had been doing for years, mainly with dogs, cats, and some birds I had found or been given. But I never rescued a chicken. However, on this particular day I made an issue of wanting to rescue one because this day was the day before Yom Kippur, which was kaporos, a highly controversial Jewish tradition that has many people, including many Jewish clergy, very critical of this barbaric and practice.

My Carnation Rose was an escaped kaporos chicken.  And we love her.
